Anxiety's object never comes to pass, only joy's or sorrow's. Your life only exists in the moment, and you contain your past in the present. You are not in hell right now.
According to MSLN, you can't know that you are permanently safe until you have completely decided to follow God, something which most people haven't done yet, and won't do for a very long time. And it is not safe for you to say that you have done this, certainly to say it to others and perhaps to think it to yourself, until you are actually in God's rest. But you can know, for today, that you have not ceased loving God, and that for today, you have not made yourself a permanent enemy of him.
Assurance that is in line with the truth can be real, but only provisional, until you are fully spiritually mature.
